Ryan Mougenel became the second Head Coach in Wranglers history when he was named to the position on June 25, 2009.
Prior to joining the Wranglers, Ryan was named Stockton Thunder assistant coach on December 30, 2008, his second position within the coaching ranks after serving the Fresno Falcons for three seasons-plus as an assistant coach for Matt Thomas’ staff. Mougenel previously helped guide the Falcons to three consecutive playoff berths, including the club’s first Pacific Division title, 100-point season and berth in the National Conference Finals in 2005-06.
Prior to being named Assistant Coach for the 2005-06 season, Mougenel played professionally for six seasons, including a total of 115 games in the International and American Hockey leagues, and a stint with Team Canada during the 1999-00 campaign. He retired as a player following the 2002-03 season, during which he was part of the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies Kelly Cup Championship squad. Along with NHL veterans Wayne and Keith Primeau, Mougenel is owner and operator of Durham Hockey Institute, a hockey school in the Toronto area. He is also a part owner of the Durham Fury, a member of the Ontario Provincial Junior Hockey League (OPJHL).
Rob Pallin – Assistant Coach
Pallin was head coach of the UNLV hockey club for three seasons (2008-11). The team earned a 78-20-3 record under his leadership, making him UNLV’s all-time winningest head hockey coach. The Chisholm, Minn. native began coaching local Midget hockey after moving to Las Vegas in 2000, where he worked with current Wranglers center Chris Francis when he was in high school. Before coaching, Pallin spent 15 years as a defenseman at both University of Minnesota – Duluth and Western Michigan University for two years each. After graduating, Pallin played across Europe for the next 10 years, spending one season each in France and Austria and eight in Germany.
Keith Primeau – Director, Player Development

Keith Primeau was named Special Assistant to the General Manager / Director, Player Development on July 14, 2009. Primeau’s responsibilities include player recruiting, scouting, player evaluation and assessment, and team administration.
Primeau’s NHL career spanned 15 seasons with the Detroit Red Wings, Hartford Whalers, Carolina Hurricanes, and Philadelphia Flyers where he amassed 266 goals, 353 assists, and 1541 penalty minutes in 909 regular season games. Primeau is a two-time NHL All-Star appearing in the 1999 and 2004 mid-season classics. Upon his retirement in September 2006, Keith had also appeared in 128 NHL Playoff games accumulating 18 Goals, 39 Assists, and 213 Penalty Minutes.
Along with his brother Wayne and Wranglers General Manager and Head Coach Ryan Mougenel, Primeau is owner and operator of the Durham Hockey Institute, a hockey school in the Toronto area. He is also a part owner of the Durham Fury, a member of the Ontario Provincial Junior Hockey League (OPJHL).
Quentin Higgins – Athletic Trainer and Strength & Conditioning Coach
Quentin graduated with a bachelor’s degree in strength and conditioning from the University of Findlay in 2008, and received his master’s in athletic training from Weber State University this past spring. The Nashville, Tenn. native was previously the strength and conditioning coach at Colgate University and the University of Iowa, and is also a certified athletic and personal trainer and USA Weightlifting sports performance coach.
Jeff Lewis – Equipment Manager
Jeff, from Chagrin Falls, Ohio, was the assistant equipment manager for the NHL’s Washington Capitals for two seasons (2009-11). He spent two seasons each as equipment manager for the ECHL’s now-defunct Phoenix RoadRunners (2007-09) and the USA National Hockey Team (2005-07) as well. He graduated from Bowling Green State University in 2005 with a bachelor’s degree in sociology and criminal justice.
Dr. Michael Miao – Medical Director
Returning as the Medical Director for the Wranglers, Dr. Miao’s appreciation for hockey flourished while attending Harvard University watching NCAA and NHL hockey. After receiving his medical degree at the University of Southern California, he completed his Orthopaedic Surgery training at the University of Pittsbugh. There, he had the opportunity to learn under the Penguins team orthopaedist. Finally, Dr. Miao completed his Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy fellowship learning advanced arthroscopic techniques for the shoulder and knee.
In addition to the Wranglers, Dr. Miao is the Head Team Physician for the UFL’s Las Vegas Locomotives. He also volunteers as a team physician for USA Swimming and USA Water Polo for their international competitions. An ATP Tour (tennis) physician when Las Vegas hosted an event, Dr. Miao has also served as event physician for the PGA/LPGA, Rugby USA 7’s, WAC and WCC basketball, and LFL. Dr. Miao is now participating in UNLV’s Sports Medicine Fellowship with teaching and assisting in the care of UNLV athletes.
Dr. Miao is an Orthopaedic Surgeon with the Desert Orthopaedic Center (www.doclv.com) and specializes in Sports Medicine and Arthroscopic Surgery of the Shoulder and Knee in active adults and athletes of all ages. He also takes care of athletic injuries to the elbow, ankle and hip.
Dr. Chad Hanson – Team Doctor
Chad M. Hanson, MD, has been practicing orthopaedic surgery and sports medicine since 2010 here in the Las Vegas Valley. He completed his medical degree and orthopaedic surgery training in Dallas, Texas, at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.
During his years of education, Dr. Hanson was elected as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society, and also recognized with an “Excellence in Teaching” Award as a chief resident. He was selected to gain further expertise with a fellowship in sports medicine and arthroscopy at the prestigious Steadman Clinic and Steadman-Philippon Research Institute in Vail, Colorado. There he trained directly under many of the world’s top experts in the field of orthopaedic sports medicine, providing care to many professional, collegiate, high school, and recreational athletes and their families.
Dr. Hanson specializes in sports medicine and arthroscopy, with a focused interest in the minimally invasive arthroscopic treatment of hip, knee, and shoulder problems. A sports enthusiast all his life, Dr. Hanson encourages a team approach with each of his patients for the medical care being provided. Working together allows his patients to achieve the recovery and success that they desire, through both surgical and conservative means.
In addition to being a member of the medical staff for the Las Vegas Wranglers, Dr. Hanson is an assistant team physician for the UFL Locomotives, a physician for the US Ski Team (Men’s and Women’s Alpine), the Dew Tour, and has served as the team physician for several high school football teams. He is a member of the Nevada Orthopaedic Society, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine.
