Opening the team’s 10th season of hockey on the road in California, the Las Vegas Wranglers kicked off the 2012-13 season with a 3-2 win over the Bakersfield Condors tonight.

The Condors tallied the first goal of the night on the power play efforts of forward Parker Stanfield. Bakersfield held the 1-0 lead until the last 2:31 of the first, when Wranglers center Judd Blackwater evened the game up to end the period in a 1-1 tie.

A scoreless second loomed, with Las Vegas outshooting Bakersfield 15-9, until Wranglers left wing Adam Hughesman, new to the team this season, recorded his first professional goal with 47 seconds left in the period.

The Wranglers entered the third with the 2-1 lead, but on a second goal from Stanfield, the Condors tied the game once again. Just 1:15 later, and only four minutes into the period, newly signed defenseman Charlie Cook notched his first Wranglers goal to regain the one-goal lead. Wranglers goaltender Joe Fallon held the Condors at bay for the remainder of regulation, and Las Vegas left the ice with their first win of the season, a final score of 3-2.

Opening weekend at Orleans Arena takes place Friday, Oct. 19, and Saturday, Oct. 20, against the Stockton Thunder. Tonight’s full box score can be found here.
