The Las Vegas Wranglers announced today the team’s opening night roster for the 2012-13 season.
Of the 21 total players on the roster, 15 have previously played for the Wranglers. The complete list, comprised of two goaltenders, seven defensemen and 12 forwards, is as follows:
Goaltenders: Mitch O’Keefe, Joe Fallon, G
Defensemen: Cameron Cooper, Bretton Stamler, Channing Boe, Nolan Julseth-White, Mike Madill, Jamie Fritsch
Forwards: Geoff Paukovich, Chris Francis, Adam Huxley, Andrew Sarauer, Sean Wiles, Judd Blackwater, Scott Campbell, Eric Lampe, Josh Lunden, Adam Hughesman, Bryce Reddick
Reserve: Carlo Finucci (F), Josh Godfrey (D)
Forwards Locke Jillson, Mickey Lang and Joe Schiller, and defensemen Sam Sabky, Peter Schweda and Eric Springer have been released.
Having started the season in American Hockey League training camps, forwards Josh Lunden and Adam Hughesman and defenseman Jamie Fritsch were previously unannounced by the team.
Lunden, 26, has appeared in the AHL every season since graduating from the University of Alaska, Anchorage, where he was assistant captain for two seasons. The 6-foot-2, 203-pound left wing has played for the Wranglers since 2010-11, averaging almost a point a game with 50 points (24 goals, 26 assists) in 55 games. A native of Coquitlam, British Columbia, Lunden signed an entry-level contract with the Phoenix Coyotes in 2009-10.
Fritsch, 27, brings 32 games of AHL experience to the team after first playing for the Norfolk Admirals in 2009-10. In his past two seasons with the Wranglers (2010-12), the 6-foot-2, 194-pound blueliner has collected 19 points (4 goals, 15 assists) in 96 games. After four years (2005-09) at the University of New Hampshire, the Odenton, Md. native made his pro debut with the Philadelphia Flyers, appearing in one game in 2009.
Hughesman, 21, has spent the past six seasons (2006-12) with the Western Hockey League’s Tri-City Americans. Named assistant captain to the team last year, the 5-foot-11, 170-pound left wing amassed 117 points (51 goals, 66 assists) in 72 regular season games, and tacked on an additional 19 points (9 goals, 10 assists) in 15 playoff games.
The Wranglers open the season on the road this Sunday against the Bakersfield Condors, and play the Stockton Thunder during home opening weekend on Friday, Oct. 19, and Saturday, Oct. 20.
