Meeting for just the third time this season, the Las Vegas Wranglers fell 4-2 to the Alaska Aces tonight in the first of a three-game home series.

Alaska left wing Ethan Cox put the Aces on the board with an unassisted shorthanded goal midway through the first. Las Vegas responded just 29 seconds later, and a power play goal from left wing Josh Lunden tied the game up 1-1. To regain a 2-1 lead, Aces forward Zach Harrison netted a goal in the last two minutes of the period, but Wranglers center Pete MacArthur scored in the first three minutes of the second to once again knot it up 2-2.

For their third, and final, lead of the night, Aces left wing Jordan Kremyr notched a goal with 10 minutes left in regulation to go up 3-2. To cap the night with a final score of 4-2, Aces right wing Dan Kissel tallied an empty net goal on Las Vegas in the last minute of play, snapping the team’s losing streak at four games.

The top two teams in the ECHL face off against each other tomorrow and Saturday night, with Heroes Night honoring police, firefighters and military personnel on Feb. 4. The first 1,000 kids age 12 and under will also get a free Wranglers superhero cape on Saturday, and Spiderman will be live on the concourse for photos and autographs. Tonight’s full box score can be found here.
