The Las Vegas Wranglers fell 3-1 to the Florida Everblades tonight, giving the Eastern Conference champions a 3-1 series lead in the 2012 Kelly Cup Finals.
Everblades forward Brandon MacLean scored the opening goal late in the first, putting Florida up 1-0 at the end of the period. Florida then took a two-goal lead on left wing Matt Marquardt’s sixth postseason goal at 5:15 of the second period, but Wranglers left wing Pete MacArthur was quick to respond with a goal less than 90 seconds later. At the end of the second, the Everblades held the 2-1 score advantage with the Wranglers holding the 21-15 shot advantage.
The Wranglers were unable to capitalize on two power plays in the third, and with 4:23 left in regulation, Everblades forward Justin Shugg tallied a goal to regain the team’s two-goal lead. Florida took the game with a final score of 3-1 minutes later, and the 3-1 series advantage as well.
Game 5 is tomorrow afternoon at 4:30 p.m. from Germain Arena, and the Everblades need one more win to take the 2012 Kelly Cup. With a Wranglers win tomorrow, Game 6 will be forced back at Orleans Arena on Friday, May 25. Tonight’s full box score can be found here.
