Las Vegas NV -The Las Vegas Wranglers announced today the team traded left wing Adam Huxley
to the Victoria Salmon Kings in exchange for future considerations. Las Vegas also
announced defenseman Christian Chartier signed a 25-game player-tryout contract
(PTO) with the Iowa Stars of the American Hockey League.
“Obviously it was a difficult decision on my part”, said Wranglers General Manager /
Head Coach Glen Gulutzan. “We felt as an organization we wanted him to further
develop in his hockey career. Adam needs a lot of playing time right now and
Victoria is short on numbers, so they are able to provide ice time for him. It was a
decision that will help us out in the future and it will help Adam immediately. This
was a very tough trade for us”.

Huxley leaves as the team’s all-time leader in penalty minutes with 299 in 57 games
played. The Wainwright, ALTA native only played in two games this season due to
injury, posting no points with five penalty minutes. Huxley set the Wranglers
single-season record with 294 penalty minutes last season.

Chartier signs his second PTO of the season, this time with the Iowa Stars. He leads
all Wranglers’ defenseman with one goal and 11 assists for 12 points in 14 games
played this season. Chartier will play for his second team in the AHL this season
after a one-game stint in Manitoba with the Moose. Chartier, 24, has played in 195
games in the AHL during his four-year pro career, all but one with the St. John’s
Maple Leafs from 2001-2004. In that time, he recorded 12 goals and 46 assists for 58
points and 100 penalty minutes. Chartier was originally drafted by the Edmonton
Oilers with their seventh choice, 199th overall, in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft. The
St. Lazere, MAN native played in 65 games with Las Vegas during the 2004-05 season,
posting nine goals and 20 assists for 29 points.
